Election Day News

Dad just had homegrown eggs, homemade bread (Amy's wheat bread), and homegrown grape juice. He plans to go out and dig up some horseradish so he can have homemade horseradish with his eggs next time. Dad and Amy have been making bread once a week the past few weeks. They are using a half wheat and flour recipe. It has turned out really well. The recipe includes two fresh eggs and makes four loaves.

The chickens are laying between 6-7 eggs a day now, but some of those are doubles. We just cracked 5, and all 5 were doubles. (We had been saving these large eggs.)

Dad has almost finished the hen house with attached runs and pen. The chickens like to hang out underneath the hen house, especially when it rains.

Mary has mixed feelings about the chickens. She loves to pet them, but they like to peck her sometimes. She doesn't like being pecked. She feels quite betrayed.

Zedek would love access to the garden (where the chickens are). He runs up and down the fence line. He also enjoys chasing the occasional dumb chicken that flies onto the fence (or even over the fence into the yard). One of them has flown over into Moss' yard twice now. We've clipped their wings twice but I guess not enough.
